Poet Succumbs at 93
Services will be Monday at 1 at Hazen & Jaeger’s for Amy Woodward Fisher, who died Wednesday at her home. She was 93.
An award-winning poet and prose writer, Mrs. Fisher was a member of the Spokane Chapter of Composers, Authors and Artists of America, Poetry Scribes of Spokane and the Spokane Branch of National League of American Pen Women.
She was also a member of the Spokane Valley Women’s Club, and the Orchard Avenue Women’s Club, as well as Lilly Chapter 27, Order of Eastern Star in Genesee, Idaho.
The author of four books, three volumes of poetry and an historical novel, Mrs. Fisher had served as chairman of the Washington State Poetry Day since 1953.
She is survived by three daughters, Patricia Woodward, at the home N3015 Park Road, Bonnie Faires, Boise, Idaho, and Thelma Kidd, Rialto, Calif.; one stepson, Ernest Fisher, Spokane, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Burial will be at Greenwood.

From Red Fir Farm, a two-hundred-acre grain ranch near Moscow, Idaho, Amy Woodward Fisher and her husband moved recently to Spokane, Washington where they named their new home “Paradise Acre”
When Mrs. Fisher was a resident of Idaho she was associated with the Idaho Writers’ League, the Idaho Press Women, and was poetry chairman of the Idaho Federation of Women’s Clubs. These interests have been renewed in Washington where she is vice-president of Spokane Poetry Scribes, and chairman of Washington’s chapter of Composers and Authors of America.
Her parents were Washington pioneers, the state where she was born. Idaho was her home for many years and there her three daughters were born and grew to young womanhood.
The winner of many poetry prizes, Eugene Field and Mark Twain certificates for literary honors, Amy Woodward Fisher has published both short stories and poetry in various periodicals. Not long ago she won a national short story contest sponsored by the Seattle Times. She is the author of three volumes of verse: COLORED LEAVES, TWO STARS IN A WINDOW, and THE SEVENTH HILL, all published by the Caxton Printer, Ltd.
